Holland CareAffaire and Runway 5K - Grace S
Wings of Mercy is blessed to have My Lakeshore Subaru as a partner in our community. Our Holland CareAffaire and Runway 5K is a local favorite and significant funding source for Wings of Mercy. The pancake breakfast, 5k walk/run, static plane display, rides, and kid's activities combine to make a fun airport outing for the whole family. Wings of Mercy is a non-profit (501c3) volunteer pilot organization that connects general aviation pilots with patients needing transportation to distant medical facilities. Since 1991, our pilots have logged over 8800 missions, most for people in West Michigan. We are the bridge to better treatment choices or a way home for those who become ill or are injured while traveling. We service Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois residents and fly anywhere East of the Rocky Mountains. This was out first year partnering with My Lakeshore Subaru, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support.
Pedal For Paws Pub Pedal - Pedal For Paws P
My Lakeshore Subaru supported our first-ever Pedal For Paws Pub Crawl! For the first time, all five Muskegon animal rescues - Big Lake Humane Society, Pound Buddies, Noah Project, Heaven Can Wait, and Faithful to Felines - came together to host one united fundraiser. While we each work tirelessly 365 days a year to care for the animals in our community, this event is a reflection of something just as powerful: the strength we find in coming together. Behind the scenes, our teams collaborate often, sharing resources, support, and sometimes heartbreak. But none of this work would be possible without our community's support. My Lakeshore Subaru's sponsorship to this event did not just fund one organization, it fuels a collective mission to give every animal a second chance. All proceeds from this event are split evenly between the five participating rescues, and every dollar raised directly impacts the lives of local animals in need. From the bottom of our hearts and paws, thank you!

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Muskegon, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why My Lakeshore Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Micah Kilmer and Hurricane Helene Support - Molly G
My Lakeshore Subaru Sales Specialist, Micah Kilmer, volunteered to help rebuild the homes of April and her mother Marsha. April and Marsha's homes were two of many destroyed by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Micah joined volunteers from The Gathering Church in North Carolina and a group from a church in Evansville Indiana to replace the windows and built a new deck. "It was a lot of work. But so rewarding," said Micah. "Everyone has been a joy to get to know."
Subaru Loves to Help - 2025 - Jonathan S
My Lakeshore Subaru hosted their Coat Donation Event with Muskegon Rescue Mission in January. My Lakeshore Subaru's Marketing Team and Karen from Operation Warm visited Muskegon Rescue Mission’s Community Resource Center with 205 coats from Operation Warm. The coats from Operation Warm addressed an immediate need for the clients at the shelter, as well as fulfilling an unexpected secondary need. The variety of colors of the coats from Operation Warm gave the children the opportunity to choose their favorite color to wear with pride during our harsh Michigan winter. The colorful coats and smiles on the children’s faces as they put them on was a beautiful sight to behold. The Marketing Team from My Lakeshore Subaru and Karen from Operation Warm took their time working alongside our volunteers to make sure each child got a coat that fit just right, and was a color they loved. My Lakeshore Subaru has partnered with Muskegon Rescue Mission for Subaru Loves to Help since 2020, providing warmth through blanket and coat donations to hundreds of clients at our shelters. Aside from the Subaru Loves to Help campaign, My Lakeshore Subaru has partnered with Muskegon Rescue Mission for food and coat drives over the past five years. Muskegon Rescue Mission has been serving individuals and families since 1907, providing food, clothing and shelter from their multiple locations in the Muskegon community. In 2023 Muskegon Rescue Mission opened their Community Resource Center with the hopes that after relieving the immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter, we can help individuals and families by addressing the root problem of homelessness and make a lasting impact. The Community Resource Center provides childcare, adult education, financial literacy courses, healthcare referrals, driver’s licenses and IDs, counseling services and much more.
Underdog Puppies Thrive Thanks to the Subaru Love Promise! - Jan J
The Happiest Little Tails at the Shelter! Pansy and Lilo were born on June 29, 2024 at Pound Buddies, to a rescued Blue-nose American Staffordshire Terrier who was named Rain by shelter staff. As a very young mother, Rain had a difficult time caring for all 7 of her puppies and the two smallest and weakest puppies, Pansy and Lilo found themselves facing Fading Puppy Syndrome, failing to thrive in the shelter environment and facing certain demise. In an attempt to save them, Pansy and Lilo were placed into a foster home and received specialized care (thanks in part to the Subaru Love Promise Grant) and lots of extra attention. After a critical first week at the foster home, these tiny runt puppies defied all odds and began eating, playing and growing. Pansy and Lilo faced many health challenges in the early weeks, but by the time October, and the Subaru Loves Pets Month arrived, these two thriving sisters were eager to meet prospective adopters. Muskegon residents, Brent and Kendall Hartman, wanted a puppy for a long time, but held off until the purchase of their home with the big, fenced backyard was completed. Kendall works primarily from home so a puppy would have lots of “hands on” time and training, and when they saw Pansy on the foster mom’s Facebook post, they immediately fell in love with her and applied to make the adoption official. The Hartmans were the first adopters for the month of October and Pound Buddies’ first Subaru Loves Pets participants for 2024. Pansy received all her puppy vaccinations, a harness and leash, extra nutritious puppy food and is scheduled for spaying and microchipping in early 2025, which was all made possible by the Subaru Loves Pets grant. Along with 30 other Pound Buddies shelter dogs, Pansy (now named Willow) is living in a loving home, and growing up healthy and strong. Pound Buddies could not be more grateful for this opportunity to prepare homeless dogs for successful adoptions and a lifetime of good health and happiness. What a gift it is for Pound Buddies to have the support of Subaru of Muskegon, and Subaru of America! Thank you! P.S. Lilo was also been adopted into a loving home with two canine siblings! Thank you Subaru Love Promise!
Shop with a Cop 2024 - Ron J
This December we held our 4th annual Shop with a Cop with My Subaru of Muskegon. Over the years, The Lake Hawks and My Subaru of Muskegon have sponsored over 350 local children through our annual Shop with a Cop event. The goal for Shop with a Cop is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and our community. Our dedicated law enforcement team brought joy to our youth once again at this year’s event. Witnessing their interactions with the children was heartwarming; they shared laughter, jokes, and genuine compassion. As they shopped alongside families, it was clear that their efforts came from the heart, demonstrating to the youth that police officers are not just enforcers of the law, but caring individuals who truly care about their community. This connection fosters trust and shows our children that they are valued and supported. The My Subaru team shows up beyond their sponsorship. Volunteers from the dealership were wrapping presents and engaging with the children. We always love partnering with My Subaru of Muskegon because of their mutual commitment to our community. Thank you to each department that participated! Muskegon Heights Police Department, Muskegon Police Department, Michigan State Police, Roosevelt Park Police Department, Norton Shores Police Department, Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, Montague Police Department, and Michigan Department of Corrections.
